What is average velocity?

Toward bright spark; The ratio of the displacement vector to the time spent on the displacement:

average velocity

The unit of average velocity is m/s or Km/h. Average velocity is a vector which has the same direction as the displacement vector. Also, averegae velocity does not give any information about the motion path.

Example 1:

If a body starts moving from a point and finally get back to that point, its average velocity will be zero because the displacement is zero.

Example 2:

If a body has an average velocity of 40 km/h, it can be concluded that in each hour it is displaced 40 km on average.

Now that you are familiar with the concepts of average velocity, you can install “Toward bright spark” app, review them as a video tutorial and learn their key points.
